Cedar Fork Community Center, 6:00 p.m.
Our first Focus Group allowed us to see Morrisville's future through a different set of eyes. We wanted to get our youth involved in the planning process, and have them tell us what they like and don’t like about their community. We began with a brief education piece that gets the kids involved by creating a community map – they learned about how memory shapes their idea of geographic spaces and they told us about what they like and don’t like by viewing a slide show of different kinds of development and transportation options. Our program was quick-hitting: all of this happened in about 30 minutes. The exercise was tailored for ages 9-18, but all were welcome to contribute.
The youth focus group meeting was a great success, with 7 kids participating and about 7 adults including the Mayor of Morrisville.
