Welcome to Morrisville Land Use and Transportation Plan Update

Welcome to Morrisville

About the Plan

The Town of Morrisville is located within one of the most actively growing metropolitan areas in the United States – the Research Triangle Region. Morrisville is one of smallest municipalities in the metropolitan area (pop. 15,000). Morrisville is ten square miles and surrounded by the Town of Cary and Research Triangle Park, with additional shared boundaries with Raleigh, Durham, and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. As a result of increased growth, subsequent development, the widening of major thoroughfares, and the opening of NC 540, updates to the Town’s Comprehensive Transportation Plan (adopted in 2002) and the Town’s Land Use Plan (adopted in 1999) are needed.

The Plan Update project began on September 1, 2007, and is expected to be complete in June 2008. Following completion of the Plan Update, it will begin the process to be approved by the Town Board of Commissioners, which will take several months. View a graphic of the project schedule here and see a list of upcoming meetings here.
